How BeezKnees Handles Your Data

BeezKnees Privacy Policy

Effective date: 18 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how BeezKnees collects, uses and protects personal information when you visit beezknees.co.uk (the "Site"), contact us, request resources or choose to receive BeezKnees email updates.

The data controller for this website is Colin Chorley, operator of BeezKnees.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect limited personal information when you:

Depending on the service you use, this information may include your name, email address, information you enter into a form, and information relating to your email marketing preferences.

Where you choose to receive BeezKnees marketing emails, we may also record when and where your consent was provided so that we can maintain an appropriate record of your marketing preferences.

2. Free Resource Pack Requests

If you request the BeezKnees UK Beekeeper Resource Pack, we use the name and email address you provide to process your request and send you an email containing access to the resource pack.

Requesting the resource pack does not automatically subscribe you to BeezKnees marketing emails.

The email used to deliver the requested resource pack is a service message relating specifically to your request.

Our lawful basis for processing your information for this purpose is our legitimate interest in responding to requests made through the website and providing the resources that visitors have requested.

3. BeezKnees Email Updates and Marketing

When requesting certain resources, you may also be given the option to receive occasional BeezKnees beekeeping updates, seasonal information, new resources and related content by email.

This is optional. You will only be added to the relevant BeezKnees marketing list if you actively choose to opt in.

Where you opt in, our lawful basis for sending these marketing emails is your consent.

We record relevant consent information, which may include the date of consent, the source from which consent was obtained and your current marketing preference.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by using the Unsubscribe link included in BeezKnees marketing emails. You may also contact us through our Contact Form.

Withdrawing consent will not affect your ability to use BeezKnees website resources.

4. Email and Form Processing Services

BeezKnees uses trusted service providers to operate website forms and email services.

These providers process information on our behalf in order to provide the services described above. We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or mailing-list providers.

5. Cookies and Analytics

BeezKnees uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies to keep the website working properly and, if you choose to accept them, to measure site usage through Google Analytics.

We do not currently use advertising cookies or third-party marketing pixels on the main BeezKnees website.

You can change your cookie choice at any time by using the Cookie Settings link in the footer.

6. Other Third-Party Services

We may use or link to trusted third-party services for payments, analytics and social-media services. Where you interact directly with those providers, their own privacy policies may also apply.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information processed through BeezKnees and use established third-party service providers to host the website, process forms and manage email delivery.

Access to BeezKnees administration accounts and related services is restricted and protected using appropriate account security measures.

8. How Long We Keep Information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including dealing with enquiries, resource requests, donations and other website submissions.

If you have consented to receive BeezKnees marketing emails, your marketing contact details may be retained while your consent remains valid or until you unsubscribe or otherwise withdraw your consent.

If you unsubscribe, we may retain a minimal suppression record so that we can respect your preference and avoid accidentally sending you further marketing emails.

9. Your Rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights under UK data protection law including the right to:

You have the right to object to the use of your personal information for direct marketing. If you unsubscribe or withdraw your marketing consent, we will stop using your information for that marketing purpose.

To exercise your rights, please use our Contact Form.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your personal information, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the BeezKnees website, the services we use or our legal obligations. The effective date shown at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are made.
